Smoke Detectors

All families should be protected by smoke detectors in their homes.  Ideally, there should be a smoke detector in every bedroom in the house.  There should at least be one located in the hallway outside of a bedroom.  Smoke detectors need to be tested once a month, and if battery powered, the batteries need to be replaced every six months.  An easy reminder to change the batteries in your smoke detector is to do it when you move your clocks forwards or backwards for daylight savings.  If you have any questions about where smoke detectors need to be located to provide your family proper protection, please call the Fire Prevention office at (781) 275-5266 and they will be happy to assist you.

If your family is educated about the dangers in their home, practices what actions to take if an emergency occurs, and is adequately protected by smoke detectors, we can keep our homes safe!
