Smoke Detectors

All families should be protected by smoke detectors in their homes. Ideally, there should be a smoke detector in every bedroom in the house. There should at least be one located in the hallway outside of a bedroom. Smoke detectors need to be tested once a month, and if battery powered, the batteries need to be replaced every six months. An easy reminder to change the batteries in your smoke detector is to do it when you move your clocks forwards or backwards for daylight savings.
