The Bedford Fire Department encourages everyone to use the enhanced 9-1-1 service available to the residents of Bedford. Enhanced 9-1-1 provides the dispatcher with the address, phone number, and resident's name from the location the call is made. This information, automatically provided to the dispatcher, results in prompt service to our residents. Your phone call will also be recorded so that it can be referred to later if necessary. This should be used when this is a fire, medical, or police emergency.

Although this information is displayed on the dispatcher’s screen, they may ask the caller to verify the address where help is needed, and to explain what their emergency needs are. It was found that many youngsters in town do not know their home address or phone number. It would be helpful if parents could go over this with their children, so that they can provide this important information when needed.

Enhanced 9-1-1 is a valuable tool in providing high quality emergency services to the residents and visitors of Bedford. However, this should not be used unless there is an emergency! For non-emergency calls, please dial (781) 275-1212 instead.
