All Bedford
firefighters are trained in a variety of technical rescue skills.
Members have awareness training in high angle, confined space, building
collapse, surface ice/water and trench rescue. Currently, all
firefighters assigned to suppression are receiving 64 hours of advanced
training in confined space, building collapse, and trench rescue.
The department uses a variety of specialized
equipment:
- 10
Paratech air shores with 2' - 11'
capability
- Air bags from 3 ton - 74 ton
- Supplied breathing air for 4 rescuers plus 1
victim
- 10 bottle jacks from 12 ton - 20 ton
- Trench shoring
- Heavy timber for shoring and cribbing
- Tripod and winch
- Confined space harnesses and rigging
- Cold water suits
- 3 portable generators and associated lighting

HazMat Trailer |

| T-1 is the Hazardous Materials Unit.
This trailer contains specialized equipment, such as high-angle and
confined space rescue tools. It was donated by the Bedford
Permanent Firefighters Association. |

Special Operations Trailer |
| T-2 is a 2003 16-foot enclosed trailer used
for special operations. It also contains specialized rescue
and safety equipment. This unit was organized and assembled by
the members of Group 4. |
| Boat 1 |
 |
| B-1 is an inflatable 12-foot Avon inflatable
boat used for water incidents. The Concord River, Shawsheen River,
and Fawn Lake are all located in Bedford. |

Boat 2 |
| B-2 was purchased in 2006, and is larger
than B-1. This will allow more equipment and personnel onboard
for incidents on the Concord River. |
