Airplane Crash
On January 24, 2004, just after 10:00pm, a single-engine aircraft crashed in the woods behind 230 Dudley Road. The two occupants escaped with non-lethal injuries just before the plane exploded into flames. Billerica FD assisted with companies on scene and station coverage. The charred remains of the aircraft can be seen below.

Broken Sprinkler Pipes
The record cold experienced in the winter of 2003-04 also kept BFD busy with water-related problems. Group 1 responded to burst sprinkler pipes at Middlesex Community College and Gammy's General Store on January 25.
