June 23, 2008

The Bedford Fire Department is pleased to announce the following personnel changes.  Congratulations to all five men!

David Grunes appointed Fire Chief
David Grunes has been selected as the new Chief of the Bedford Fire Department, and was sworn in on June 23, 2008.  Grunes had been appointed Acting Fire Chief in January while approximately 30 candidates were reviewed for the position.

Chief Grunes joined the Bedford Fire Department in 1994; he served as a firefighter for six years, lieutenant for six years, and captain for two years.

"I am excited to help serve the department and the community,” said Grunes. “With the current makeup of the department it is an exciting time to take over. With the probability of me being a young chief and having four young shift leaders, it is an exciting time.”
