Personal information of 26.5 million veterans was compromised
In May 2006, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced that a laptop computer stolen from a VA employee contained personal information for over 26 million military veterans. For more information, the VA has set up a website at http://www.firstgov.gov/veteransinfo.

I am a veteran - was my information included?
According to the VA, everyone affected should receive a letter by June 15, 2006.

Many veterans take up careers in public safety after leaving the military, and we feel that anyone who may have been affected should be aware of this potentially serious issue.
